What is a Stylist in Fashion Versus a Linens Stylist

Many different types of stylists offer their knowledge and expertise and two that are often confused are fashion stylists and linen stylists. While there are some similarities, linen stylists offer a highly specialized service that can make all the difference in creating a luxurious, comfortable home that reflects your unique style and aesthetics, while a fashion stylist helps find the right style, fabrics and materials for your wardrobe.

When considering hiring a professional stylist, it’s important to know how they can best serve your particular needs. Read on to learn more about the differences between these types of stylists and how a linen stylist can help you create the home you dream of.

How Do Stylists Work

How does a Fashion Stylist Work

Depending on the demographic area and experience level, a personal fashion stylist’s rates may vary. They will likely charge either a daily or hourly rate or a monthly retainer, and can charge per project or by retainer for their styling and shopping services. Lastly, fashion stylists may work with seamstresses or fashion designers to create custom pieces, which may come at an additional cost.

How does a Linen Stylist Work

Linens stylists often require an initial consultation fee upfront to discuss and determine the scope of the project and the needs and personal preferences of the client. This ensures that the specialist obtains enough details for them to create a highly-customized experience for the client. In some cases, there may be specially designed items for the home.

Following this, most reputable linen stylists charge an hourly, per-project fee, or a monthly retainer, plus an added percentage of goods sold to the client. On average and depending on the size of the project, you can expect to pay for their consulting and shopping services.

When to Hire a Stylist

When to Hire a Stylist

When to Hire a Fashion Stylist

There are two main reasons why one would consider hiring a fashion stylist:

1. You are a high-profile individual and professional

High-profile individuals, who are often in the spotlight, will hire a fashion stylist to help them find the right attire for a special event, a photo shoot, and for everyday living.  Aspiring professionals may consider investing in a fashion stylist if they are starting a new company or reinventing their career or are now simply in the spotlight due to continued success. Having a personalized wardrobe for work can positively impact one’s confidence and attitude while leaving a lasting impression

2. You are an individual who would like to improve your style for personal reasons

Finding the style that best compliments all of your features can feel empowering. This doesn’t always come easily, though, if:

  • You have trouble choosing outfits that best fit your style
  • You feel like you have nothing to wear
  • You get tired of wearing the same things over and over
  • Are a busy individual who needs help to organize and select their clothing

A fashion stylist can assist you in organizing your wardrobe, choosing pieces that are both comfortable and appealing so that you feel extraordinary in your own skin.

When to Hire a Linens Stylist

Designing the look and feel of your own home can be a rewarding experience, but it also requires a lot of time and energy to curate the most idyllic living spaces. You might consider hiring a linen stylist for the following reasons:

1. You are a luxury client or high-profile individual or professional building a new home

Whether you are working with an interior designer or designing the property on your own, you may want it to be picturesque and comfortable when moving in.

When you don’t know which direction to go, where to start, or what you need. Investing in a linens stylist will help you to create and customize the vision and comfort that you touch and feel every day. Important Items like bedding, towels, napkins, placemats, and throws.

2. You want to refresh your linens and everyday comforts

Finding the style that best compliments your living style can feel empowering and enhance your experience exponentially. This may not come easily for you if:

  • You have trouble choosing colors and fabrics that best fit your style or current surroundings
  • You feel like your house looks tired and worn but you don’t know which way to go
  • You get tired of using the same things over and over
  • Are a busy individual who needs help to organize and select their linens and household comfort items

A linen stylist can assist you in organizing your linen collection, and choosing pieces that are both comforting and appealing.  Items with which to dine, sleep, bathe, and that feel extraordinary on your own skin.

3. You are planning a special event or party

Often the linens available from a rental company do not bespeak the quality or style that you want to present for your special occasion.  Hiring a linen stylist will ensure that the tables and surrounding areas have the look and feel that you want to convey for your event.

4. You have a special family heirloom or you want to create heirlooms for your family

This may be a special tablecloth of your parents or grandparents or a favorite quilt passed down to you. An expert stylist will honor these pieces’ unique stories and heritage while uniting them with modern design to create a functional and beautiful experience in your home.
