At E. Braun & Co., form meets function in an exquisite collection of luxury linens for bed, bath, and table. Running the gamut from classic to contemporary, the linen purveyor espouses the concept of self care through objects that restore and bring joy-transforming the everyday to extraordinary.

What was your path to your current career?

Working in the fashion world and then the design world has shaped my perspective by not only how you look, but how you feel and how you use objects that add to the experience of living well. I strive to change people’s perspective about what can be both beautiful and useful in their daily lives. I collaborate to create environments that are as indulgent as they are accessible to everyday living.

How do you approach designing a beautiful bedroom?

There’s a lifestyle consideration when selecting the right bedding. I always start with a conversation to learn about my client’s personal wants and needs. How do you sleep? Do you prefer a duvet or top sheet? Once I understand the more intimate comfort preferences, this illuminates the selection of fabrics and design approach.

One size never fits all–that’s the secret to a well-made bed. Investing in premium quality bed linens creates a sanctuary where form meets function and lasts for years to come.

Can you share insights into designing bedding? Are there any technical details you prioritize?

It is important to begin with the basics when beginning to dress a bed; a high-quality mattress pad, 100% Supima or Egyptian cotton sheeting, high-quality down pillows, and an inviting duvet insert. We consider not only the fabric, but also the proper size and drop desired. Every detail is considered.

What is your favorite bedding textile?

Creating the perfect bed is truly a form of self-care. My favorite sheeting fabric is 600 thread count Supima cotton sateen or percale for the sheeting, shams, and duvet cover. Because we specialize in a European style of bedding, we believe that most of the pieces on the bed should be made of washable, breathable, and natural fabrics.

In the summer and in warm climates, I recommend a lighter solution using a lightweight cotton sateen blanket cover instead of a duvet and duvet cover to dress the bed. Just in case a cool breeze passes through, it is best to always keep a cashmere throw nearby.

Where do you source the materials for your bedding creations?

Most of our cotton bedding fabrics are woven in Italy, while silk fabrics are from Japan or China. Most of our bedding is made to order in Italy. with a portion from France and Morocco. Towels are finished and woven in Portugal which is considered the best for toweling. Our linen fabrics for bedding and table linens are woven in Italy or Belgium.

What inspires you?

I find inspiration at nearly every turn–from travels, distinctive furnishings, fashion, books, art, and textiles to design, architecture, and natural surroundings. A motif from a building cornice or the patterning on a wallcovering or fabric can inform the embroidered design of a towel, sheeting, tablecloth with a new, interpretative lens.

Tell us about the Kazumi Yoshida collection.

It began about 4 years ago. Manima World, Kazumi Yoshida, and E. Braun Beverly Hills are like-minded and kindred spirits working to make a positive impact on small artisans and communities to produce beautifully embroidered pieces for the world to use and enjoy. Collaborating with workrooms and artists is what brings joy and pleasure to designing, creating, and selling fine linens. I believe that these exclusively tailored programs of artisanal crafted designs embody unique expressions of style in the finest, sumptuous fabrics that truly transform everyday to extraordinary.

How do you balance washability with dry cleaning when designing luxury bedding?

Because we specialize in pure finish bedding, we believe that most of the pieces on the bed should be made of washable, breathable, natural fibers and fabrics. Laundering is our first choice.

Do you have an early, formative memory of textiles?

When I was young, my mother began taking me to design showrooms to select fabrics for draperies and furnishings for our home. When old enough, she allowed me to select my own fabrics and fine linens for my room-sparking my colossal future in home styling.

What bedding trends have you seen come and go in recent years, and what do you see emerging now?

To me, luxurious bedding is not trendy. There’s an integral level of premium quality in my curated choice of bedding for a client. Select what feels best to you and brings you joy.

What philosophy guides you when layering textiles in a bedroom?

An inspired, well-lived life is one that approaches the everyday with a considered sense of appreciation for moments and objects that are inherently restorative and joy-giving. I believe that true luxury in the home is founded on good design-design that embodies high-level form and function at its essence. Thoughtful objects made from quality natural materials with dedicated attention to every detail artfully elevate and bring elements of intimacy and harmony into our lives.

Do you have any insights into table and bath linens?

Linens are the foundation of everyday living. They are literally the connecting thread from the heart of the home throughout every experience-they should be a first consideration, not an afterthought.
